“Now more than ever Miami needs spaces where we can live together in dialogue” said Mr. Hernandez. “The Underline has both a world-class team and vision to create a place to better connect all Miamians, and it is a great privilege to join in the effort to get there.”

With a background spanning the public, philanthropic, and nonprofit sectors, Mr. Hernandez is deeply engaged in Miami and is also a proud board member of Venture Café Miami and Code/Art Miami.

“Lucas is incredibly bright and has a broad spectrum of experience that will support both our philanthropic and technology endeavors.  As a member of our Technology Council and a donor, he has already brought great value and demonstrated a deep commitment to our mission” said Meg Daly, FUL president and CEO.

The first phase of The Underline, the Brickell Backyard, is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2021.  This section starts at the Miami River and ends at SW 13th St. In addition to a sound stage and outdoor gym, these 10 acres will also include art installations, meeting and dining tables and gathering spaces all of which will accommodate social distancing and encourage continued safety and wellness for the community now and in the future.
