Fun kid-friendly events and activities that inspire children to build connections and be creative

Miami, FL- The Underline kicks off Family Day at The Underline an all-day fun-filled, kid-friendly series of events that take place every third Saturday of the month. Beginning October 16th, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Family Day at The Underline will present Art of Nature, multi-disciplinary art classes for children inspired by the flora and fauna on The Underline. Then from 2 - 4 p.m., take your little ones to Family Day at The Underline, Building Blocks, a pop-up life sized LEGO-esque playground in the Brickell Backyard Urban Gym.

“The Underline is designed for, open for, and programmed for children to learn, grow and be more connected to their community. From the native plantings including pollinators supporting three butterfly species, to places to walk, bike, scoot and play, we hope The Underline is loved by and protected and nurtured by the children of Miami-Dade County,” says Meg Daly, Founder of Friends of The Underline.

With the support of The Frederick A. DeLuca Foundation and Cornelia T. Bailey Foundation, The Underline is partnering with the local non-profit Arts for Learning to teach children the critical importance of South Florida’s history and fragile ecosystem. Through a curated curriculum of multi-disciplinary art classes, children will explore Miami’s rich cultures, ecosystems, nature, science, and sustainability. Each Saturday morning, two concurrent classes will be taught by professional artists in the Brickell Backyard Promenade.

Then, in the afternoon from 2-4 p.m. get your kids moving while they build their own kingdom with Family Day at The Underline, Building Blocks. Sponsored by MIAMI Association of Realtors, children can play with giant Lego-like Ever Blocks to help improve fine motor skills, spatial awareness, and eye-hand coordination.

Due to limited space, families must register to attend. A parent or guardian are required to sign a waiver for kids to participate in the classes and Building Blocks. Register for Art of Nature programming here. To participate in Building Blocks, register here. CDC guidelines will be followed with mandatory mask use and social distancing.
