Miami, FL, January 25, 2024 -

Friends of The Underline (FUL) appointed local philanthropist, Norma Jean Abraham, to the Board of Directors last week.

Led by some of Miami’s most well known philanthropic and corporate leaders, The Friends of The Underline Board of Directors is advocating for and delivering a 120-acre, 10-mile multimodal trail and linear park below the Miami Metrorail. The project’s transformational and pioneering vision positively impacts public safety, mobility, resiliency and community and benefits from a Board of Directors with a diverse set of skills and experience.

For the past 40 years, Norma Jean has been engaged with numerous local non-profit organizations. Inspired by her mother's lavish parties, she started her own party planning business in the late 1980s, pioneering the concept of "partying for a cause" by tying in charitable organizations with events. Norma Jean's extensive community involvement includes serving on the board of The Arsht Center, chairing events for The Women’s Fund of Miami-Dade and Kristi House, and holding leadership positions in various organizations. She has received numerous awards for her dedication and community service, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others.

“I can’t think of a more fitting way to engage in the future of Miami, than by serving on Friends of The Underline Board. I look forward to leveraging my love of events and Miami into more great programs on The Underline,” said Norma Jean Abraham.

“Norma Jean’s considerable experience in the non profit world will be an incredible addition to our team.” Meg Daly, Chair of the Friends of The Underline Board, said. We are thrilled Norma  is dedicating her passion for community service and her boundless creativity to the Friends of The Underline.”
