MIAMI, FL — The Underline, Miami’s transformative 10-mile linear park and urban trail, today announced that Juan Mullerat, Principal and Founder of Plusurbia Design, has been appointed to the Underline Conservancy’s Board of Directors.

An internationally respected urban designer, architect, and educator, Mullerat brings more than 25 years of global leadership in community-driven revitalization, healthy design, and placemaking. His appointment reflects The Underline’s continued commitment to building one of the most dynamic, inclusive public spaces in the country, a civic and cultural platform designed by and for the people of Miami.

"Juan is a visionary whose work has helped define some of Miami’s most beloved neighborhoods," said Meg Daly, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of The Underline Conservancy. "His expertise in designing vibrant, connected, and community-centered spaces aligns perfectly with The Underline’s mission. We are honored to welcome him to our Board."

As the Principal of Plusurbia Design, Mullerat has led high-profile projects including the Wynwood Master Plan, Little Havana Revitalization Master Plan, and numerous transit-oriented developments and Complete Streets initiatives. His firm’s value-added contextual design approach prioritizes the social, economic, and environmental well-being of urban spaces.

In addition to his professional practice, Mullerat is an adjunct faculty member at the University of Miami School of Architecture, serves on the Advisory Board of USF’s MURP Program, and is the Vice President of Section Affairs for the Florida Chapter of the American Planning Association. He frequently lectures and publishes on topics such as placemaking, healthy design, transportation corridors, and safe streets at institutions and conferences, including Smart Cities, Harvard, ULI, APA, and CNU.

"I’m honored to join The Underline Conservancy Board of Directors and to contribute to Miami’s most exciting and impactful public project," said Mullerat. "The Underline is more than a park, it’s a new civic spine for Miami. I look forward to helping shape its future as a vibrant, inclusive space that connects people, neighborhoods, and culture across the city."

Spanning four continents, Mullerat’s practice engages in urban interventions, comprehensive plans, revitalization initiatives, and context-sensitive architectural standards and designs in both the private and public sectors.
