May 11, 2024
4:00 pm | 5:30 pm

Join us for an #SDGs journey and sound healing experience as we discuss eco-anxiety and climate action.

Climate change poses serious risks to the mental health and well-being of individuals. Climate change is a growing global crisis, threatens the future of the Earth and can cause psychological impacts, a phenomenon which is known as eco-anxiety.

The American Psychology Association (APA) describes eco-anxiety as “the chronic fear of environmental cataclysm that comes from observing the seemingly irrevocable impact of climate change and the associated concern for one’s future and that of the next generation”

The World Health Organization (WHO) is urging countries and cities to include mental health support in their response to the climate crisis. Climate action must include mental health to protect people’s physical and mental health from climate threats.

The ABC 4 SDGs presents the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a enabling framework to take action on climate change.

This session will focus on:

  • Information on the SDGs with a specific focus on SDG 3 Good Health and Wellbeing and SDG 13 Climate Action
  • Embracing sound healing, using instrumental music, frequencies and vibrations to encourage healing of the mind and body and promote a sense of wellbeing and relaxation.
  • Commitment to act on climate change and self-care

Music therapy has been shown to reduce anxiety. Mindfulness-based approaches can help people cope with the intense emotions associated with climate anxiety and grief.
